Fall of Dreams
James and I sure got the luck of the draw. Havasupai Falls really is an incredible and healing adventure! Carrie and Jeff were so kind for inviting us along with them and their fun energy filled friends. We are so GRATEFUL!
I took a daily dose of Excederin to get me through without headaches. That may be what made it such an adventure away from the daily pain.
It was beyond beautiful, it was heavenly HOT and freezing cold all at the same time.
The water was freezing cold, and it was this amazing beautiful aqua blue color. It's a good thing the temperature was like 108 so we were encouraged to adventure into the water caves, jump off the cliffs, and to forage through the forest like a primate looking for new water adventures.
Although the heat did get pretty tricky at night time. It was near impossible to sleep.
We backpacked in all out Mountain Home dry foods, which actually tasted pretty good. Our snacks got stollen from the super trained, “tight rope” walking squirrels. They chewed through our backpacks - dang squirrels. I bet those squirrels would taste pretty good roasted on a fire, but only when you’re super hungry. We were most grateful for the water purifier brought by James. We hung it from the tree right in our camp. It was so easy to scoop water from the creek any time we wanted a cold drink of purified water. The creek that ran through our campsite served us well when is was time for a little cool down or a bath.
Havasupai Falls was the most picturesque and grand water fall of all the 5 falls we adventured to. But each fall has it's own qualifying characteristics.
NAVAJO FALLS were the first falls we found on our hike into Havasupai. It was the first cave that we explored under a fall. The cave/pocket under the water fall was super cool to explore. We happened upon another group of people exploring as well. It was fun to swim under the falls and go into the cave and talk with the other adventurers. Then We swam from pool to pool through little gauntlets and reeds.
HAVASUPAI FALLS was the first large, majestic, and powerful fall that had an aqua blue blue pool at the base of the fall that we saw. It's fun to hang in the pool at the base of this fall with a tube. And it's fun to boulder to mountain and jump off the cliffs near this fall. The water fall mist is so powerful from this fall that is like a BLAST in the face when you get close.
MOONEY FALLS was a super cool approach! We had to climb through a bunch of caves and down a mountain face that was a bit sketchy. There were some chains and ladders anchored in the mountain side to assist us in keeping our balance. The first time climbing down to Mooney Falls I didn't feel nervous . In fact, DANGER didn't even cross my mind, but the next day when we returned to Mooney Falls I wondered why DANGER hadn't even crossed my mind.
BEAVER FALLS The hike to Beaver falls is about 3 miles. The journey to Beaver Falls is most of the adventure! It was fun to hike in and out of water all the way through, and the green vines that we hiked thorough in the middle of this canyon in the dessert were so beautiful, it was like an oasis. When we got to the falls there were multiple falls cascading and overflowing into each other, it was incredibly beautiful. It was fun to swim and jump off the edges.
SECRET FALLS This was one of the hardest falls to find, and we were the only ones there. This was one of the funnest places to cliff jump at about 40 feet. There was some cool bouldering along the wall, and a great cave behind the waterfall. We like the "Secret" about this fall most of all.
Havasupai Falls – A MUST SEE ADVENTURE!
