Luke Boo is 3 Weeks Old
Happy Valentines Day!
Length: 19.5 inches long
Weight: 7.4 pounds
Head Circumference: 13.5 inches
Luke's original due date was on this fine Valentines Day. We are so grateful that we have already been holding and cuddling this sweet baby for 3 weeks. It has truly taken this long for mom to come up with a real nick name. His nick name is "Boo". We love that Luke has joined our family.
• Nursing- Luke has been having a small stomach problem. Luke has major gas, and his stomach is distended. Mom is taking the necessary precautions. No dairy! Oh how I crave a tall glass of milk; although, almond milk is a nice substitute. No beans, broccoli, or peanuts or anything that might cause extra flatulence. It's been a real challenge to put aside orange juice and pineapple because they have always been a favorite.
The things a mother will do for her baby go way beyond giving up some of her favorite foods. I don't mean to be whining about this situation, I am just saying this is a real challenge for me. It's become super hard to order from a dinner menu and I am running out of dinner ideas at home. Honestly though this is an interesting challenge. I will walk away from this experience a better person. A person with a new perspective on food.
• My Family- Sam has been marvelous and a super gentle big brother. In fact Sam has already been willing to share his favorite toys with Luke (Lightening Maqueen, and Thomas the tank engine). Sam is starting to feel pretty good about this new addition to the family now that things are in routine. In the first week while Sam was still learning to adjust to this new brother he said to his mom, "I want you to put that baby down and play cars with me." Later he said, "Mom I want you to put that baby away". He made this statement like I was constantly playing with a new toy; like I needed to re-focus my attention and put my life back together. It was super funny!
Life has been put back together, no more hospital visits wahoo! This is the way things are supposed to be. We are so glad that Luke is here. We cannot imagine our lives without our 2 sweet boys. We feel so blessed every day for our wonderful family.
