Family Cruise for Grandpa Don -St.Martin-1st Stop
St. Martin was our favorite stop of the whole trip. The best part was renting scooters and exploring the island with Troy and Melissa. We found a little shop at a lady's house with great prices and fun things. Little did we know that it was the best shop of all. Airport Beach was an adventure, a little scary . . .

Ok very scary and very cool that the planes fly in right over your head. The beach sat at the end of the runway separated by a single road and a chain-link fence. We were very lucky to get there right before an airplane landed. We decided to set up camp right in the middle of the beach. It was a beautiful beach, and it was kind-of funny that no body else was camped out.
Then it came to our knowledge, No body was camped out because 747's take off on that very same runway, Duh! James had thought it through a tiny bit and warned Angie (who was sitting with her back to the plane and unable to move), "Angie this plane is about to take off, there might be a bit of sand and wind." James planted he feet in the sand and braced himself. Our voices fell silent, but our ears were pierced by the sound of the 747. Then just like the sand storms in the new Pixar film"Wall-e" . . . cannot see, cannot speak, cannot move, cannot think straight, cannot even cry. Melissa ran for the ocean, Troy stayed under the water and stopped breathing through his snorkel. The thoughts of James and Angie "When will this ever stop".
Apparently we missed the 10 foot warning signs. We are happy to be alive, and glad that we have such a story to tell. We will never forget what your supposed to do and what your not supposed to do at this beach.
