Yesterday, December 30, 2008 we were blessed to have our beautiful baby boy join our family. The delivery went better than we could have imagined would be possible. Angie is my hero! We arrived at the hospital at around 5:30 after Angie had chosen to labor at home for most of the day. Upon arrival, she was dilated to 4cm. Within 10 minutes, her water broke, within another 20 minutes, she was fully dilated. About that time, Angie's fantastic midwife Roberta Ward arrived, and our baby was born at 7:04. We couldn't believe how big he was, because Angie always looked so small. We are still undecided on his name, but we have a couple of favorites that we're considering (Sam and Luke).

We are so happy to have our son!

  

By moms special request Sam was able to spend a lot of time in her arms immediately after delivery. Nobody rushed to clamp or clip the umbilical cord; and all standard procedures of cleaning, weighing, and measuring the baby were postponed. Eventually Sam was taken to the warmer to bask under the lights. He was right in his element and he decided to make his mark on the world. Dad watched as Sam shot a rainbow stream of pee over the edge of the warmer and onto the floor. For the First Time . . . . Sam Peed.

Talk about a busy day. . . we will be celebrating our anniversary on the half year from now on. We had several congratulations on our last minute tax credit :) Getting our taxes in this year is actually exciting!
